Started by members of the Cape Verdean community, this creatively constructed place celebrates the mix of African, Portuguese and American cultures that make up Cape Verdean American identity. This museum has a surprising amount of items on display and you'll learn a lot about their music, their art, life on the islands, the history of slavery, and more. For Cape Verdeans, and there are many of us in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, this is a place you can take your time exploring and maybe learning things about the islands that you didn't know. I really liked the section on Independence, how the American CVs helped with the movement against Portugal and all the memorabilia left from that time period.
